Kedsoft UBAD2011 - NEW VERSION, 15.2

NOTE: UBAD2011 has NOT been tested with MS Windows VISTA or Windows 7

Therefore, use of this program with MS Windows VISTA or with Windows 7 is not supported.

Additional Note: Some users have reported success with 32 Bit Windows 7 and failure with 64 Bit Windows 7. In any event, Windows XP is the only supported operating system at this time.

7/28/2011 - Information and Installation instructions for UBAD2011, version 15.2.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
THIS IS THE LATEST RELEASE FOR THE 2011/2012 year. This release comes with both a FULL INSTALLATION and an UPGRADE.

The FULL INSTALLATION is meant to replace any existing version of UBAD2011, if it exists. If UBAD2011 is already installed on your computer, you must unninstall it before re-installing this FULL version of the program. YOU MUST UNINSTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF UBAD2011 BEFORE RE-INSTALLING THE FULL PROGRAM.

The UPGRADE is for those who have already installed UBAD2011. If you have not created your own UBAD classes, you will download the upgrade file, "unzip" it, and you will be ready to continue using UBAD2011. If you have entered your own classes, you will need to re-enter them before you try to enter employees' hours. Updates are located in an area toward the bottom of this page.

Downloading and installing UBAD2011 for the first time will cause the UBAD2011 program to exist on your computer and to appear in your Programs menu. Installation of this program will not remove versions of UBAD from previous years, such as UBAD2010. As with all recent versions of UBAD, you can import your employees from previous years (see instructions in the manual).

MANUAL:
The manual is available in either PDF or MS Word formats. To view the MS Word version, you must have MS Word (version 97 or greater), or some program which understands MS Word documents. To view the PDF version, you must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader program, Ghost Scripts viewer, or some other program that understands PDF files. If you do not have Adobe's Acrobat Reader program and wish to have it, you can download a free version of Adobe's Acrobat Reader program by going to http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and completing the process there.

UBAD2011 Program
You can NOW download an executable file which PREPARES TO INSTALL the whole UBAD2011 program plus. The file which you download will extract the installation files to a directory on your hard drive.

There are a few steps to installing UBAD2011:
1. First, download the file from this website (remember where you download the file to so that you can run it!).
2. Second, run the file from the location you saved it. By default (automatically), the files will be extracted to C:\UBAD2011. You are allowed to change the place to which you extract the files. Once you are satisfied with the directory for extracting the installation files, click on Unzip. Then, click on the Close button.
3. After the files are extracted onto your harddrive, run INSTALL.exe to actually install the current version of the UBAD2011 program. If you do not do both of these steps (2 and 3), the program is not yet installed.

If you successfully complete all of these steps, you should find the UBAD2011 program in your Programs menu, which is available by clicking on the Start button in MS Windows.

Helpful hints in case you experience difficulties while installing UBAD2011:

• Suppose you go through the recommended steps to install UBAD2011 and receive errors during the installation process or when you try to run the UBAD2011 program. It is possible that you have to turn off your virus protection software to properly complete the installation of UBAD2011. Another possibility is that you may have to install the program in "Safe Mode," also because of interference by virus detection software. If you experience errors when installing the UBAD2011 program, you can assume that the program will not run properly. In this case, it needs to be Uninstalled and then re-installed either without your antivirus software or with your computer running in safe mode. If you have a system administrator or an IT administrator in your company, you may want to check with this individual for assistance.
• If your computer runs on a network and you do not have administrative rights to your workstation, your administrator may have to install the software for you.
• This comment is for those of you who download the files, rather than running the installation from your browser (the recommended way to install):
  
When you download the UBAD2011-ver15-2.exe file and/or any of the updates, store it on your local harddrive in a location that you can easily find (in case you need to re-run the installation at some later time). This is particularly important if you have a modem connection to the internet.

About UBAD version 15.2:

Version 15.2 is the current version of the UBAD program for the 2011/2012 year. This full version includes all changes indicated in the updates listed on the update section of this page. It is intended only for those who are installing UBAD2011 for the first time or for those who wish to re-install UBAD2011 without saving any data.

• After you click on the link above, depending upon your browers's settings, you will be prompted to either download or run the program that will place the installation files on your computer. Once you have finished downloading the file, you will need to run it to extract the installation files. UBAD2011 is not installed on your computer until you have extracted the installation files and then run the program called Install.exe. Consult the manual for more specific information.



• Please be sure NO VERSION OF UBAD IS RUNNING when you install the program or any updates. Do not download and install the program until you have downloaded and read the manual.



• If you decide to re-install the program, be sure to unintstall the existing version before re-installing the program. Uninstalling the program will remove any data you have entered, because it removes all UBAD files.


There are currently no updates for UBAD2011. When updates occur during the year, they will appear in the list below, with the most current update for UBAD2011 at the top of the list.
For updates, scroll down to the grid below. Be sure to read the instructions. Some updates require that you have a particular version of UBAD installed before applying the update. For the original UBAD2011 installation files, click on the file link ABOVE where it says DOWNLOAD THE UBAD2011 PROGRAM HERE. If you have already installed the original program, then download and install any upgrades according to the instructions below. Double click on the file ito install it and press Unzip. Please note that the update assumes that the UBAD program was installed to the default location of C:\. If you did not install the program in the default location (your C: drive), you will need to type in the path where the UBAD program resides otherwise the updated files will not be placed in the correct location (ex. G:\).
